My name is Malikarose Abdussalaam. I studied Psychology and Education at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, outside of Kansas City where I was a NCAA Scholastic Athlete on the Women’s Basketball team, active Black Student Union (BSU) member and improv comedy team. I then studied Industrial Organizational Psychology at Bernard Baruch College CUNY in New York, New York, in downtown Manhattan, where I also was a NCAA scholastic athlete and captain of the eight time CUNYAC champions Women’s Basketball team and member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). I am certified in lifeguarding and CPR & First Aid. I am also a Certified Nursing Assistant in two states, Ohio and Delaware. I attended the SAPST training course. I enjoy serving a broad range of the population from young children to the elderly when it comes to wellness and learning. I believe that any individual can learn given the right tools and support and that many people want to learn more about everything. I am a product of this community and want to give back as much of the attention and focus that was given to me, whether that be in the realm of sports, education, empowerment and connectedness that have led and continue to lead to my success. This community has great potential to put out a constant flow of leaders and with the right direction I believe we can change the lives of those who can impact our future and instill self belief in them just as has been instilled in myself.
